How to Get More Joy & Energy with this Sacred Feminine Practise.

Hello friends !!

I wanted to share a lovely Sacred Feminine practise with you that will not only increase your energy but contribute to your overall sense of well being and fulfilment.

Recently I read a blog post from Kate Northrop that talked about “body first, business second”. I love this concept as it really is a Sacred Feminine principle by focusing on well being to generate energy and productivity for life and/or business.

By making space in your weekly schedule for your body and soul first, then scheduling life around that, we create a powerful energetic message to ourselves and the Universe at large. This sacred act of “paying yourself first with your Own time and energy” really affirms to our own souls our own value, our own worth and our own importance in life. I see so many moms ( me included in previous time) that think suffering and sacrifice are equivalent to good mothering. Ummm… can we throw that old concept out the window?? That is why we are so depleted, empty and unfulfilled. I would often get resentful that there was no room for me in my own life. By taking care of ourselves first we can take care of babies and families. It is essential, really everything depends on it, we need to take this space and time for ourselves for our own health and well being. It literally affects everything/ our minds, emotions, bodies and souls. How we treat ourselves in our own lives is often reflected in our experience of life and our vitality doing it.

I get it, it can be so hard to prioritize. We pencil it in and don’t follow through. Believe me, I’ve been there and still am sometimes. But what if this practise was essential for every other part of your life??!! Think about that!!ūüėä. Would that help us commit?

So every Sunday (or whatever day you plan your week), schedule in at least two spots in your week for you time. Ask yourself what you need… a massage? Coffee and dessert with friends? Deep conversations? Creative time ? Date night? More sleep? Whatever it may be… schedule it in and then create your to do lists and family schedules. Thank you Kate Northrop for this format!

I used to think, when I have time this week I will…paint…do yoga…go out for coffee etc. But it never happened. With three kids, the time never emerged or if it did I was too bloody tired to do anything. I had to learn to make the time emerge in my schedule by creating it and committing to it like my life depended on it. Sometimes it’s getting up early and journaling or blogging before the kids are up. Other times it’s sleeping! Who am I kidding I don’t sleep much haha.

This “Body Before Busy” ( the Triple B ) practice built into your weekly schedule affirms to yourself and the Universe that you know your value and worth. By giving yourself time and space in your own life you will feel more joyful, more fulfilled, and you will see resentment, overwhelm and even frustration begin to dissipate. You will find you’ll have more energy as when we feed our needs and nourish our feminine souls, it shows up in our health, energy and vitality.

I really feel that our relationship to our own deepest Self is central and fundamental in every other aspect of our lives. It’s reflected in everything, how we feel, what we do, what we eat, what we accept, what we don’t accept, what we choose and don’t choose and on and on and on. How we treat the inside shows up on our outside. (A mind-body principle). Our health really is a reflection of our relationship to our mind, body and souls and lack thereof.

So my friends I hope each week you participate in this lovely feminine practise and fill your own well. You will surely start to see the energetic boosts physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Isn’t this a simple yet radical shift that needs serious commitment!!

And so it is my friends. Please comment on what you have scheduled for yourself using the Body before Busy principle.

This week I have scheduled tonight some furniture painting and later this week some date night time with the hubby. We are also doing daily workouts together which has been great to make that time for ourselves and together.

Have a happy week!! New Moon tomorrow ūüĎćūüŹľūüėä

12 Ways to Feel Really Alive in Everyday Life.

inspiredI’m big on making the small things big. ¬†On stretching something ordinary into something grand to really enjoy it. ¬†I mean, why not make everything special and extra-ordinary? ¬†Why not enjoy the everyday stuff? ¬†I’m trying to set-up my life where it feels like I don’t need a vacation from it.

I want my life to feel full of excitement, inspiration, joy and magic in the every day moments.  All it takes is some intention, focus and action.

So here is a list of 12 things (that’s only one a month people), of ways we can ignite the fairy glitter into the everyday. 12 ways to bring excitement, aliveness and passion into your every day life with the every day people in it. ¬†It’s fun, easy and hopefully will get your creative, airy fairy juices going cause when you’re happy, everyone is happy. ¬†That’s right, it’s contagious and uplifting. ¬†So let’s uplift this place!!! ūüôā

So here we go…

1)Sign-up for a class or activity that is all about fun. ¬†Not making money, not showing off how great you are, not about moving you forward. ¬†Do something that moves you inward, that fills your soul tank and ignites joy, peace and elation. ¬†We are so focused on accomplishment but this task, this is about experiencing aliveness, nothing else. ¬†Go take a painting class, an acting class, a music class, a moccasin making class…anything…cooking, cleaning, love-making. ¬†Just do something with the intention to feed your soul, not making money or getting ahead (although I’m well aware this is very likely to be a by-product of feeding your soul, nothing but good comes from it). ¬†ūüôā

2)Host a themed party with your friends and family. ¬†In my circle, I’m known for making people play games. ¬†I love them all…card games, board games, making up games. ¬†Host a full blown casino night or Mexican Party night where everyone brings a Mexican dish and wears bright colors. ¬†Host a Winnipeg Jets (our local team but choose your favorite sporting team) Party where everyone comes and watches the game dressed in team colors or jerseys. Don’t forget…it’s a potluck ūüôā

3)Plan a weekend road trip somewhere with friends or the fam.  It can be local or far.  Maybe to the neighboring town or city.  Spend a night, do the local activities.  Go to the casino or winter festival or local attraction. Maybe you heard of a great ski hill or bookstore or meal somewhere.  Make that your destination. Enjoy!  Stop along the way and take some fun pics.

4)Invite your friends and family to do a 30 Day Challenge of your choice. ¬†Pick one month in the year…Feb, March, June…whichever and have some sort of health inducing challenge. ¬†Maybe it’s 30 minutes of exercise for 30 days or 30 days of picture taking, or 30 days of trying new recipes. ¬†Anything, make it fun and attainable. ¬†The goal is joy and aliveness.

5)Take a late night and moonlit walk. ¬†If you live where there is snow, throw on some snowshoes, put on a head lamp or grab some flashlights and take a stroll. ¬†It’s really quite blissful and magical. ¬†I do this weekly with my dog and sometimes the hubby ūüôā ¬†To be honest, it’s kinda romantic.

6)Choose one month or even a week and have a Random Acts of Kindness challenge at work, with your family, or with friends.  Make sure to take pics and share.  Feel how good it feels to be kind and giving to others.  Buy someone in line behind you a coffee, put quarters in some shopping carts, give someone a compliment.  Bring your grandma out for lunch.  Shovel your neighbors driveways (or snow blow).  This list is endless.  Do share your ideas!!!

7)Create a romantic date night at home with the significant other in your life or have a “fancy dinner” at home with friends. ¬†I mean go all out here…candles, table cloth, the fancy china and of course your finest clothes. Pretend your dressing for a wedding and dress to the nines. ¬†Set the tone with Jazz tunes, dim the lights, ignite the candles. ¬†Enjoy lusciousness. Order in, hire a private chef or have a potluck.

8)Wake up early with the fam or with friends, get a blanket coffee, muffins, donuts and watch the sun rise.

9)Grab a blanket, go outside if you can, or by a big window, grab some vino, some bubbly juice or some sparkling water and toast the sunset. Watch the magic of the day disappear and enjoy the sparkling starlight.

10)Go to a new restaurant that you’ve always wanted to try. ¬†For me there’s this Fondue place I’ve always wanted to try just to say that I’ve been there and tried that. ¬†It’s something different and something you wouldn’t do everyday.

11)Find a local hot spot coffee shop and invite your friends for coffee, dessert and connecting.  Indulge your senses with it all.  But really, you have to have dessert.  This is about your senses, about lusciousness, about aliveness.  I mean really, chocolate and coffee are a divine intervention in your mouth!

12)Experience the arts! Spend an evening at the art gallery or go to a play, or watch live theater. ¬†Go to the symphony, the ballet, or a live poem night. ¬†Trust me, this will inspire the shit out of you!! ūüôā

There you go folks, one Full Blown Aliveness Challenge a month. ¬†You got this. ¬†Now let’s do this and do share ūüôā

If you feel called, do you feel free to FOLLOW MY BLOG, I’d be so delighted.

Cheers to a magic inspired, alive, excited, happy New Year.  Woot woot!!

And so it is.

Today’s Challenge – Stretch Your Happy!

happy“Happiness is not ready made. ¬†It comes from your own actions.” ¬†The Dalai Lama.

Don’t you wish happiness would just find itself in your life, like a magical spell from the butt end of a magic stick and boom…happiness and bliss. ¬† Awe well, we know that’s not how she works!

You gotta make yourself happy, you have to approach life how She is and hug it out. Embrace it.  Love it.  Own it like you are trusting the Divine Plan for you and your soul.

I know, I know, you are not in the best job, maybe not in the best relationship or making the best amount of money.  I say, own it! Love it! Indulge and roll around in what is like it was the best, most perfect scenario for you at this moment.  Love it like it were a special letter sent from the Divine directly to you.  Would you receive it lovingly or demand more?

Now this doesn’t mean we can’t want more or be on a path towards our ultimate. ¬†Yes, let’s do that…definitely!! ¬†All I’m saying is don’t hate the stepping stone you are on at this time. ¬†In fact, I’m saying love it with all your might.

Happiness is a choice, an action, a decision to see with ultimate trust in the Divine plan for you, or you can put on the ugly, fugly, grumpy glasses and choose another sight.  Are you a bowl of cherries or a well of negativity?

When I first go divorced I had to take some jobs that I didn’t love just so I could support myself and my new baby out on my own. ¬†I could have been bitter, and truthfully there may have been days I was, but I chose to appreciate what those jobs offered me at the time knowing they would not be my forever jobs. ¬†I didn’t always feel great doing them or at the end of the day felt depleted but instead of feeding into that negativity, that pitty party, I would did deep and journal (well at least on most days). ¬†Sometimes I’d have to journal mid tears, in my car at lunch hour to remind myself that this is not permanent and there are gifts among the challenge. ¬†My tear drops would hit the pages as I’d refocus my soul on the good in the less than great scenario. ¬†I tell ya, those challenging experiences fed my confidence and trust in myself like nothing else could. ¬†I am far more secure and confident in life and the universe as a whole as well as in my instincts than I ever was because of those less than ideal situations.

Amidst the painful and even dreadful days at times, I’d journal on what the jobs did provide me such as a solid income to pay my rent, bills, food, car, diapers, etc. ¬†It provided me stability while I worked on building a new foundation with life out on my own, now with a child. ¬†It gave me freedom to leave my unhealthy, hurtful marriage.

There is happiness everywhere if we can choose to clean the dirt off the gem we are holding in our hands.

Even now, I struggle in relationships, I’m an airy, fairy who¬†loves her freedom. ¬†I need it. ¬†I hate being tied down, I’ve actually grown to be too independent, that I’ve at times closed my heart. ¬†I’ve used independence as a shield, as a defense, as a protection for not needing anybody. ¬†Relationships are my portals to soften my heart, ask for help, soften my protection and ultimately heal my wound in trusting men to be loving, consistent, caring, solid creatures that will love and protect.

So that means, my relationship isn’t perfect because it’s a container of my healing, it’s mirroring to me my sore spots and areas I need more work. ¬†I shall repeat, it ain’t perfect. Haha! ¬†I get in my airy, fairy mode and at times crave being on my own, not because I don’t love my new husband, but because it is my defense. ¬†It’s my comfort zone, I like full blown wing expanding freedom to soar out in the world my way, on my terms and on my own clock. ¬†It’s easier, more self indulgent, more me, me, me. ¬†So when I get all crotchedy in my relationship I journal the gift of it. ¬†What great things does it bring? ¬†What am I learning and healing in this moment? ¬†Maybe it’s how to properly express myself, or voice my needs or learning to be less selfish. Is it always easy…hell no! As I’m sure many of you can relate. It takes work, commitment, sacrifice, attention, presence, choice, action, responsibility. ¬†All those things that are not always a walk in the park.

However, this marriage, this relationship, this man, has provided me with the most amount of love, of healing, of consistency or trust than I have ever had in my lifetime. ¬†The gifts of this marriage far out weigh life on my own with my airy, fairy wings never fully committing to anything. ¬†Isn’t that what it’s all about? ¬†I’ll learning to balance my gypsy soul while being a wife and mother. ¬†It’s redefining womanhood for me. ¬†And you know what, it’s what sparks my soul! ¬†It is my art…learning to live as a wild, tribal, vibrant soul in this modern day world. ¬†It’s redefining traditional roles into new realms, new expansions, new expressions. ¬†It`s discovering how to walk with Aliveness even in the mundane. It’s redefining Feminine and everything that goes with it. ¬†It’s powerful and intense and blissful and dreadful and everything in between. ¬†Now that’s happiness!

So happiness is perhaps a choice, an embracing of the gifts and lessons we are learning in this precious moment with people, circumstances, scenarios that can help our souls heal and expand out into the world. ¬†It’s about squeezing the good, happy juices out of whatever circumstance that is less than perfect in our minds. The Divine offers us these moments and realities as gateways to the next stone. ¬†When you learn the lessons and gifts and find the joy on the leap pad you are on, you get to move on forward, it’s simply universal law.

Today’s Challenge – Get Outside & Awaken!

images (1)Today’s challenge is simple….if you can get outside! Get moving, walking, raking, shaking. ¬†Just move your body’s energy. Call up a friend and go for a walk in a park, go for a run, dance it out with the kids. ¬†Just move your lymphatic fluid, squeeze your muscles and get those veins pumping. ¬†If you can let’s be outside, if you can’t that’s okay, open a window and make it work.

Get a natural high from sniffing in the fresh air, get stronger from being present to the bold standing trees standing so tall for hundreds of years, no matter what the seasons.  Awaken with the crisp, cool breeze caressing your face.  Let the sunlight kiss your skin, and radiate your life force energy alive.  Soak it in and stoke that inner fire.

Move your body as though it were a sacred tool, a gift from the Divine for you to indulge in the senses and magical experiences in the physical world. ¬†That body is Sacred so treat Her/Him like it deserves. ¬†It’s the instrument of your soaking in the luscious rainbows, the dewy grass, the songs of the songbirds, the kiss of the breeze, the joy beams of the sun. You get to walk on the Earth Mother because of your amazing feet taking you from place to place. ¬†Your body¬†is a magic box, converting life all around you into experiences, feelings, sensations and holds the universal portal to the Divine. ¬†That’s fucking magic!

Celebrate your body by being in nature and enjoy it as a Divine conduit. ¬†Nature is your mirror, what do you see? ¬†How is it a reflection of you golden soul and sacred body? ¬†Absorb it all in. ¬†What are the highlights? ¬†Do share in the comments below. Write about it, journal, picture it up. ¬†But most of all…soak it in!

Move your body, own your body, shake your body and invoke the fires of aliveness, enjoy your flesh, your bones, your fat, your skin, your veins, your feet, your arteries, your muscle, your tissue, your soft, sensual skin.

BE ALIVE and so it is!!  Day 15 of the 30 Day Wildly, Luscious, Soulful Living Challenge.  Feed that soul baby!

Today’s Challenge – Find 13 Extraordinary Moments in the Ordinary.

coffee2Howdy folks.  Today we are on day 12 of the 30 Day Wildly, Luscious, Soulful Living Challenge.  Woooohooooo.  How we feeling??

Today’s Challenge:¬†

Today we find 13 extra-ordinary things in the ordinary. ¬†It was inspired by an article by author Geneen Roth which is linked below. ¬†Do read it ūüôā ¬†

“Walking. Being barefoot. The fact of night. Stars. Salamanders. A sip of tea. A bite of chocolate. My husband‚Äôs face. The ordinary things we pass by on the way to wherever it is we think we will finally be able to relax‚ÄĒand enjoy the ordinary things,” writes Geneen Roth in her article.

Today’s exercises is really enjoying the moment, embracing, loving and squeezing in the juices of what is right around you, even if you are seeking something better or bigger.

She goes on to write, “It turns out that the true extraordinary isn‚Äôt reserved for special people or big achievements or red-carpet-moments. It‚Äôs extraordinary to write a book, and it‚Äôs extraordinary to eat a grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes and mustard. It‚Äôs extraordinary to meet a famous person, and it‚Äôs extraordinary to meet the eyes of a grocery store cashier.”

I’m pushing us to do 13 moments because I want you to do it throughout the day, not just do it and get it done. ¬†There are extra-ordinary moments every day, all day long. ¬†We just need to invite ourselves to the party to see them! ¬†You need to believe in magic, for magic to show up. ¬†You need to open your loving, grateful heart and absorb all the wonder around you if you want to feel wonderful.

So take some pics and post them on the Women’s Tribe¬†Facebook Page or Feed Your Feminine Soul Group Page. ¬†Tell me about your extra-ordinary moments experience in the ordinary facets of our lives. I want to hear them. ¬†I will share mine with you. ¬†Sign-up to receive the emails for daily doses of connecting of wildly, luscious soul.

At the end of the day reflect and write on any new awareness this exercise brought you? What did you learn?

This article by Geneen Roth was the inspiration for today’s challenge. Click on it, read it, enjoy it!! ¬†it’s so luscious.¬†¬†¬†http://communicate.eckharttolle.com/news/2015/03/20/the-big-life/

How to Feel Abundant in Just 5!

abundance 4Today we indulge the senses, soak them in and absorb them into our soul. ¬†In Canada it’s spring. ¬†Spring has literally just sprung, meaning there is finally no snow on my lawn. ¬†Can I get a woot woot?

Woot woot!!

This morning I heard birds chirping and they were the inspiration for today’s Day 7 Wildly, Luscious, Soulful Living Challenge. ¬†(Join in anytime.)

Sometimes we need help to stop and smell the roses.  This is a lesson in gratitude and abundance today.  We really are so rich, so full, so lucky, if we can just take a minute to see it, smell it and call it in.

Today’s Sacred Task – “Just¬†5”

So today, I ask of you to take 5 pictures that represent Spring or the season (maybe winter) depending on the country you live in. ¬†Indulge in the season, soak in the freshness, the new beginnings, the awakening that is occurring around you. See the colors starting to emerge, hear the birds starting to sing or the rain puddles pooling with playful joy. ¬†Be sure to post these on The Women’s Tribe FB page or the Feed Your Feminine Soul group page and share how these elements spoke to you.

Writing Wild Р Conversing with the Elements.

After you’ve taken your 5 luscious images of rebirth, spring and renewal, imagine these images, these elements of spring had a message for you. ¬†Take your journal and sit with your images or if you can with the elements.

1) Write a brief note of gratitude to each of the elements you chose.

2) Ask them a question or simply allow to share a gift with you. Just free flow a response imagining what your images, elements, animals, rocks, whatever you chose might share with you. ¬†If you have specific questions…ask!! If you don’t ask for a gift ūüôā

Here is one of my entries.

Dear song birds, thank you so much for your lovely sound, calling in the winds of spring.  Thank you for allowing my ears to hear you and invite me to stop and enjoy the moments of your songs.  Thank you for belting out joy into the ether with your calls.  Do you have a message for me?

Dear Crystal – keep singing your song. ¬†Stop and hear the music, feel the joy, let it pelt against your skin over and over throughout the day. ¬†Life is so good, so beautiful….soak it all into your blood like it were soul medicine. ¬†Life is so rich.

Enjoy the senses, love, abundance, joy, light, beauty is all around you.  Were you able to soak it all in and wear it like a pretty, cozy sweater?  How was your day after this exercise did you notice anything different?  How did you feel?

Join the The Women’s Tribe Facebook page or the Feed Your Feminine Soul Group to share your experiences and build a community of like minded folks.

10 Ways to Invoke some Magic Dust into Your Day.

Does life ever get mundane?  Does the routine ever get boring?  love

When we live on auto-pilot we get stagnant. Stagnant in
excitement, stagnant in emotion and in health.

It takes guts to shake it up. ¬†You must live with conscious intention, awareness and a commitment to live life more fully, more deeply. ¬†If you want magic in your life you gotta put in some effort, it ain’t just gonna happen. ¬†You must create the portal, the opportunity, the setting for it to come and play some live music at your dance party of life.

Here are 10 Ways to Re-Invoke a sense of Wander & Magic in Your Day.

1.  Shake up the routine.
2.  Take a different way to work or leave at a different time.  Notice the changes, is the sun in a different spot.  Is the traffic less frenetic?

3. ¬†Try something new…a new recipe, a new restaurant, a new type of latte. ¬†Don’t do same!

4.  Have dinner outside.  Get a blanket and have a picnic in your back yard, around the fire, in a park, anything just not around the kitchen table tonight.

5.  Do something different than watching TV. Go to a museum, art gallery, live music show, heck even go to the library.  Go somewhere unconventional for you and give it a whirl.  Invite in new energy by trying new things.

6.  Rock a funky piece of clothing.  Wear that bright pink shirt or leopard print shoes.  Where four rings or a scarf with skulls.  Have some fun, dress it up, invoke some play with your clothes.  See the response of those around you when you walk around with playful energy and intentions.

7.  Go to a second hand store and find something you can re-purpose with some love, vision and paint.  Would it look good in bright pink?

8.  Go outside, take in some deep breaths.  Breathe in the fresh spring air.  Describe the experience in the form of a love poem or haiku.

9. ¬†Make a bucket list. ¬†List 14 things you’d like to do before you kick the bucket. Do this with a friend or significant other over a coffee or hot chocolate and share your lists.¬†How can you start tackling the list?

10. What are some of the most fun, wild, passionate, memorable experiences you’ve had? ¬†Tell me about it as though it were a story. ¬†Write it out and remember, every. single. detail. Who were you with? ¬†Where were you? ¬†How did you take the risk and get there?

Have some fun, shake that shit up and live life a little off the beaten path today.  Sparkle, shine enjoy the magic in the air!!

Enjoy my friends.  As always please share and comment.

8 Simple Rituals to Invite In Prosperity & Positive Energy for 2015.

new years2

New Year’s is a time filled with many rituals and traditions in a vast number of cultures to welcome the New Year with good energy, wealth and health. ¬†New Year’s is like a time of renewal and rebirth…a new slate. ¬†So here are some ways to close the energy of the past and invite new prosperous, healthy and flowing energies into your home and life.

1) An old Pagan tradition is clearing out your entrance way.  Vacuum or sweep up any old negative energy, negative thoughts, or stagnant energy.  Clean the floor too with some vinegar, sage oil if you can as you mop it.  Imagine sweeping the room clean of anything that is not of love, not of light and send it outside.  Only positive, uplifting, flowing energy may come through your home.  They say to leave the broom across the door to seal out the negativity at least overnight or until the first visitor comes. Note that they say you should sweep before January 1st, before midnight as anything after that would be clearing away good luck.

2)  In Spain, people eat 12 grapes, one each at the stroke of midnight to signify good luck for the next 12 months.  It is said that that some people through the grapes in their wine to represent the last twelve months and the twelve to come.  As midnight strikes they eat them as quickly as possible one at a time from their wine glass and make a wish.

3) In the Philippines round shapes are celebrated as they are thought as symbolic to coins and abundance.  They suggest placing an abundance of round fruit on your tables to welcome prosperity.  And for those 80s girls, get out your polka dots as wearing polka dots are also said to bring good luck in their tradition.

4) Clean out your purse ladies.  Men clean out your wallets.  Throw out old receipts or paper you no longer need.  Make sure to keep the slot where you keep your bills clean and free of any receipts as it blocks the flow of money.  Invite in prosperity while clearing out the old.

5) Pay off any debts or bills you can before the New Year.  If you owe someone money pay them back.

6) Cleaning the house before New Years is a good way to clear any old, stagnant energy.  While you are cleaning, think of clearing old energy out and inviting wealth and health in.  Open doors and windows if you can even just for moments to clear out the old energy.  You may want to check out my article How to Be a Bad-Ass Goddess While You Mop Your Floors for an energy clearing mopping recipe.

7)¬†A good ol’ sage clearing in the house. ¬†Be sure to open a window or door to let out any of the negativity and old energy. ¬†Make sure to get int the nooks and crannies and corners.

8) Make a mini altar on your kitchen table. Fill it with large bowl or plate of round fruits, pomegranates, apples, oranges, grapefruit, grapes etc.  Light some candles.  Get another giant bowl and get your family to write at least 3 wishes each for 2015.  Place it in the bowl and eat a grape for each wish. Grab hands and form a circle of energy and send your wishes to the sky and the earth.

Enjoy the New Year and may it be filled with prosperity, joy and good health.

A Quick And Easy Way to Re-Ignite the Love in Your Marriage. All you need is 5 Minutes.

loveI’m going to let you all in on a little secret. ¬†I read an article just yesterday about the secret to a long lasting marriage. ¬†You know what it was….kindness! ¬†Can you believe the simplicity in that?! ¬†However, it is simultaneously complex because sometimes it’s hard to be kind to the person that can push ALL of your buttons.

It takes some conscious effort to be intentionally kind and thoughtful in our marriages. ¬†It’s easy to overlook and forget the good when life is busy and stressful. ¬†It’s easier to dump out the emotions on our loved one’s for their tiredness or laziness and spear them with complaints how they always fall short or fail us. ¬†I’m guilty, I’ve done it. ¬†I usually do it when my own love tank is empty. ¬†It’s easy to take for granted our significant other and focus on what they do wrong rather then ask for what we need. ¬†But negativity only breeds negativity.

So here’ s a quick little habit I’ve been getting into lately that is really changing my life and transforming my relationship. ¬†It started because of an awful dream I had where my husband left me for an unattractive but kind and loving woman because I was too crotchity and demanding, I always pointed out his flaws rather than appreciate his good. ¬†He said he couldn’t take it anymore and just wanted to feel loved. ¬†It was awful, I woke up changed, burdened, scared and refocused on making sure he knows how much I love him and appreciate the beautiful parts of him I fell in love with. ¬†That unconscious mind is a powerful tool!

Here’s what ya do…

Each morning write 5 things you love about yourself and why. ¬†Let’s get real and responsible here and know that we need to fill our own love tanks too. ¬†So go ahead and toot your own horn! To start your day with five sentences that start with, “I love myself for…” will truly change your life. It’s necessary to appreciate yourself, it builds confidence and self-esteem. If you can’t love and appreciate yourself, you will not be able to receive the love of others. So bring attention to and list your wondrous accomplishments and sweet, nice, loving things you did as a wife, mother, friend or daughter. That’s right, celebrate your good and bright stuff because you simply deserve it. It will feed your self worth and confidence.

Now, do the same for your significant other and remember why you fell in love with this person. ¬†Go on, write those 5 fabulous things about your honey and don’t forget the “why” of your statements. ¬†Maybe you remember how gentle he was with your son yesterday or how how she brought you home a coffee after work or how often he tells you how beautiful he thinks you are. Write down the love, remember it, savour it, wrap yourself in the caress of its presence. You’ll find that as you focus on the good, sweet, and luscious moments in your relationship and of your “boo”, you won’t be so bothered or annoyed when they leave their boots in the middle of the entrance way or the toothpaste cap on the sink.¬†It will roll off your back because you are full and focused on love. ¬†Your memory of their acts of love and amazing qualities and will be present when those less attractive habits show up. ¬†Then you realize they simply are not that important or that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things and in the big picture of your loving relationship. ¬† And remember, you got those unattractive habits too so be gentle. ¬†ūüėČ

Side note…you can do this for each one of your kids too and see how you are more calm, grounded and patient when the toilet plugs and there’s cereal all over the floor.

Booyah! Your Body is Calling, Pick up the Phone!

BODY IMAGELoving your body is an inside job.  It is recognizing that She, your body, is your soul in form, an extension of the deepest part of you.  Loving your body is really about connecting to your Essence found WITHIN your body.  This can be a bit of a foreign concept for some of us who were taught that Spirit is outside of our bodies and the body is just a place of sin and weakness. I challenge this assumption.  Hogwash I say!  Your body is a Sacred Keeper and the physical form of the deepest part of you. This is called Embodied Spirituality, where connecting to your body is really connecting to the Divine.

Can you begin to have the intention of uniting your mind and body in a sacred union, a true and loving kinship? This means approaching your body as an equal, even as captain of the team. ¬†This is a much different way than treating your body like a thing to dominate and a thing to push past it’s limits. ¬†It is letting go of mind over body mantra and instead following the body’s lead. ¬†It is opposite of everything we have learned and it will take some unlearning, believe me, I too lived that mantra. ¬†I played competitive sports and we trained until we puked, pushed to the limits and beyond and called that success. My body has since rebelled as I continued to live a life of overdoing. ¬†She has said no more, too much, no you won’t overdo, over-extend, over push, over carry, over burden me/us anymore. ¬†She has put her foot down with the manifestation of an autoimmune disorder that I believe has evolved out of refusal to hear Her and slow down. ¬†Now, I have no choice but to pay attention. ¬†I’ve had to find another pace, another gear and slow way down in order to do life or I will have an autoimmune attack and end up in hospital.

Marion Woodman, a Jungian Analyst who specialized in the Lost Goddess said in a speech for Conscious Femininity, “You know, you must wander in a culture where autoimmune break down is the most prevalent of diseases ‚ÄĒ lupus, AIDS, cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome ‚ÄĒ these are all illnesses in which the body refuses to play host to the soul.” Booyah! That kinda hits you in the gut doesn’t it.

In mind-body therapy, we look for the metaphorical message in the illness. ¬†Illness is often accompanied with unresolved emotion or belief patterns. In the book The Secret Language of Your Body by Inna Segal, autoimmune illness is associated with “…an inability to stand up for yourself. ¬†Weighed down by responsibility. ¬†Always putting others first. ¬†Anger, resentment, blame and guilt…” For me, I regularly pushed past my limits, over committed, over did things, held everything on my shoulders and did not ask for help. ¬†I didn’t stand up for my own limits, I didn’t stand up for my body’s needs or my souls needs. ¬†I put other’s needs ahead of my own, and I sacrificed me time, down time or rest time in the name of getting more things done or to squeeze in an extra workout.

Autoimmune illness is literally the manifestation of the mind attacking the body. ¬†For me, it is the manifestation of my mind pushing my body past it’s limits continually, never checking into see how things feel or where the body’s energy levels are at. ¬†It is keeping it up too late, feeding it too little, forcing it to exercise extraneously, stressing it with life, having a thousand and one commitments to tend to and pretending there is no emotion within about the way I’m doing life. ¬†It was living with an “I am fine” illusion when I wanted to cry at every stop sign I sat at. In fact, I pretended I was superwoman and to say I was struggling would have ruined my facade. ¬†I rarely rested or fed my soul through creativity or stillness. ¬†I only collapsed in exhaustion or used alcohol to disconnect from the exploding reality trying to burst out of my insides that I couldn’t manage the pace of my life any longer. ¬†Then one day, I collapsed at work and life¬†was never the same because an autoimmune disorder was born.

We must balance DOING with the Sacred Task of BEING! ¬†Being is experiencing life with a pure intention of peace, joy, fun and play. It is not checking off the to do list or creating things for the purpose of getting accolades. It is refilling the energy tank, the love tank, the self-esteem tank, and the feel good to be alive tank all in one. It is experienced through stillness…conscious stillness, reflection, journaling, even when you really don’t want to or would rather watch TV and zone out. ¬†It is also creativity, creative expression, and a dumping out of the emotional tub inside. It is walking outside and feeling the wind caress your face or it is sticking your tongue out and tasting a snow flake. ¬†It is life lived at a slower pace, in the moment, focused on the beauty and wonder around us. It is connecting to the Universe, the Divine, to God & the Goddess, the Creator, the stars, the moon, the wind, the water and fire, because we need and crave meaning, spiritual connection, and emotional release in our lives. ¬†We need to do less more often. ¬†Did you hear that…do LESS more often! We need to have way more fun and play in life and accomplish less. ¬†(This statement might get some great comments lol)

When we are so busy, over doing, over extended, over exhausted, there is no room for the soul, we don’t take presence in our own body. ¬†We don’t step foot in our own two feet, we just float around in our minds going through our life tasks spiritually vacant. ¬† Maybe we find ourselves wanting to cry out of nowhere and we aren’t sure why…this my friends is the soul’s tears. ¬†They will leak out in the moments of stillness right before bed or when things just keep getting compounded and challenging that we can’t keep it together, we burst at the seems. ¬†That moment is a gift, a call home to your Essence!

sacred body2GRATITUDE JOURNAL FOR MY DIVINE BODY.

So take five minutes and for today, write 5 things you are grateful for about your body. ¬†Thank your legs for carrying you from place to place and the ability to move. ¬†Thank your hands for doing such amazing work tending to the children or cooking meals. ¬†Thank your gut for digesting food and helping you have life force energy to go about your day. ¬†Thank your ears for the ability to hear a beautiful song or your child’s laugh.

Let’s appreciate our life giving, soul holding bodies today and everyday! ¬†Let’s take things a little slower, a little gentler, a little more focused on fun and less on outcome.

And so it is ūüôā
