March New Moon Energy

Happy new Moon!! This cycle we are moving into awareness and evaluation of our relationships. Fun, fun, fun! This includes romantic relationships, friendships, work partnerships and family relationships .

It feels heavy and mucky and there’s a lot of unknown elements. For myself, my hubby and I have hit a rough patch. A boulder has crossed our path and we are a bit stuck at it. We’ve been going to counselling to sort out the layers of rubble that created the boulder and it’s not easy or fun. But it’s necessary for our union and mostly for our own individual growth.

He’s mirroring to me some dark spots and unhealed pockets I need to explore…own and heal. And I am doing the same for him. If we do not let ourselves stand in the flames of vulnerability, it’s easy to get defensive and deny or even blame the other. It’s raw and naked and scary as bleep!

But this is big big healing we (all of us ) are being asked to do and release. It is clearing away of the armour and guards of love that we have used as protection since the eons of time … but now the universe in Her glory asks us to surrender it down and move more fully into the radiant realms of love and trust.

It will not be an easy path but keep vision on the course. Ask yourself over and over…

What would love say ???

What would love do???

What would love think????

Truth be told, some relationships will disintegrate and dissolve into dust because the healing that is being asked of us is soul deep and some won’t be ready. And as hard as it will be, it will be ok. Just be in each moment of unknown on step at a time.

Maybe we’ve carried these fears for lifetimes or since childhood or since our last betrayal… but it is heavy and deep and the work is immense but I guarantee you, it will be life changing. It will change every aspect of how you experience your life. You will move into a deep trust and peace. This will shift so much into the world.

Try and trust and stay in the belief that healing will happen it whatever forms our binds take. Pray, envision, believe, speak, imagine and feel the universe caressing your heart as you walk the path of a healing soldier. Imagine what the healing will be and feel like and see it occur. Who’s there? What are you doing? How are things different ? How have things changed ?

On this new moon, take some time and honour this deep and humble healing time.

I honour you and your journey . And so it is ❤️.

A Wind-Song Ritual for the Equinox

Happy Fall Equinox(or Spring depending on where you live) my friends.  This is the day when light and dark are equal.  A balance of yin and yang on the Earth one might say.  I love the fall, the changing color of the leaves, the crisper feel of the air, and the call to begin the draw inward with some cozy candles and pumpkin spice smells.  It’s a time of sweaters and boots, scarves and leggings.  I don’t know about you but I really enjoy each change of season and the changing of energies that come with them.  In Canada we feel the change of each four seasons and I absolutely love that.

So on this Fall Equinox the energy calls for a cleansing, a purifying of the air and a bringing in of the new life and energy.  We are all going through major changes at this time so I hope you find this fitting as well.

A WIND-SONG RITUAL
Open up many windows in your home and invite in the beautiful, crisp and luscious autumn air. Allow the breeze to sing a lovely transition song through your home as she cleanses the energy and brings in new light and life force during this equinox.  Call in the Great Spirit and Great Mother, angels, fairies, spirit animals, guides and ancestors or whomever you feel connected to to help you in your ritual.  Feel the spirit of transition, manifestation and harvest in your home.  Feel how abundant you are in love and shelter. Feel the simultaneous warm and cool breeze as she caresses your cheek. Close your eyes and hear the wind sing to you. What does she say?
If you have, dab a bit of tea tree oil or sage oil onto your screens as a means to cleanse the air or light incense and allow the breeze to move the cleansing smoke throughout your home.

Enjoy your new and shifted energy.

And so it is my friends.

If you called, I’d love it if you FOLLOWED THE BLOG OR The Women’s Tribe Facebook Page for more more rituals and soul work.

Enjoy! xo

The December Energies Forecast.

sagittariusThis moon/month has shifted into Sagittarian energy.  YES!!!!   There is an energy of personal power at play here.  Many of us having been feeling drained, emotional,  even irritable from the Scorpio Moon cycle. The inner emotional energies have been rattled so you could awaken last moon.  Stagnation, irritation, lack of joy, these are all messengers that arrived at our door step to inform us to flip the page, make a change, take another road.  Get off the poor powerless me stand-point or the frozen in our foot- steps mark and get things a rollin’ again.  You may have spewed out emotion in the form of shrieks or dinosaur size tears…good!  Get that shit out and listen to why it has arrived.

I got all fired up at and it turns out.. it was ultimately at myself.  It came out at my hubby but the reality is I haven’t been taking responsibility for my time and my needs and blamed him.  I must be the card holder to my own destiny, my own wants and needs and lay them on the table in my game of life.

Many of us will find ourselves in a situation with some sort of irritant, some sort of issue or person bothering us and this moon will shine down and illuminate your power, your voice, your ability for smart planning.  You’ve been irritated to the core, holding on to these intense emotions, unsure what to do with them, where to put them, how to deal with the source of the irritation.  Perhaps like me you’ve remained frozen, unsure what to do or where to step so you’ve made no steps at all.  This moon, this month, will change that.  The centaur (Sagittarius symbol) with his bow and arrow in hand symbolizes for us the need to focus, set your aim and shoot for what you want!  Use your voice, take the step, make an action.

I pulled a Medicine Card from Jamie Sams deck and got the Opossum card.  Here’s what the Opossum wishes to share…

“Opossum medicine uses a great deal of strategy…It has the ability to fight with its claws and teeth, but it rarely uses this form of protection…If opossum has turned up in your cards, you are being asked to use strategy in some present situation.  Rely upon instincts for the best way out of a tight corner…Oftentimes if you refuse to struggle or show that hurtful words bother you, your taunter will see no further fun in the game….Opossum is beckoning you to use your brain, your sense of drama, and surprise – to leap over some barrier to your progress.”

So this month, make concrete, brain powered, logical plans to balance the inward energies stewing.  The masculine and feminine energies must be balanced, united in a sacred marriage.  Make schedules and strategies and see them through.  Commit to them as though your commitment to these schedules or strategies were symbolic to your commitment to your own self-love.  I’ve had my share of struggles with schedules, I feel locked down my them, chained, caged and my freedom loving Sagittarius soil rebels.  However, these schedules are a must for self-love and manifestation, they are not about imprisonment, they are about love for oneself and our own energy.  You are doing this for you, you are organizing your energy, making plans and taking action to move your soul forward and your heart healing onward.  The worlds needs your expressions so harness it and make it happen!

Here are some ideas to help move and organize your energy…there’s a clearing occurring.  Clearing space and time…organizing it so there is no wasting those luscious energy strands. It’s moving it out of your body so the anxiety, the restlessness, the overwhelm can dissipate.

Make a weekly schedule for your life.

Make a weekly menu.

Make a regular date with your soul every week, put it on your schedule.

Make daily to- do lists.

Make concrete plans of action of a sacred task at hand waiting for release and completion.

Schedule in time for your interests…yoga, writing, a new class, dance, soup making…anything!

Clean out drawers, donate clothes.

And so it is my friends.  Remember you can absolutely feel free to share.  Also I’d be so honored if you FOLLOWED THE BLOG OR THE WOMEN’S TRIBE FACEBOOK PAGE.  🙂

June New Moon Ritual. Cleansing & a Turtle.

junenewmoon2.jpgHappy New Moon Friends!

Well this is an interesting New Moon, usually new moons are about setting new intentions, staring new beginnings…but this one feels like we must clear out the old energies first.  This New Moon feels like a festive time to clean the air.

I pulled a Native Spirit card for this one and got the Smudging ceremony.  It reads..

Let go of the past.  Purify.  Detox.  Release whatever doesn’t serve you or support you in your life.  Cleanse your body and your environment by doing space clearing and clutter clearing.  Let go of the old, discarded, and unused to make way for new energy and new beginnings.  Eat lightly, drink lots of fresh water, and consume food with strong life force energy.

I feel prickly on this New Moon, that person in my life who I must continue to deal with continues to be a thorn at my side. I don’t want to be thrown off kilter or even annoyed at his continual games or boundary attacks.  Lately I’ve just avoided conversation and confrontation with him because it’s pointless he doesn’t hear me, he doesn’t respect my point of view of concerns. It feels like a waste of time.  But what my guides have shown me that it is not, it is not a waste of time for myself.  I must use my voice for me, regardless of his response.  I must use communication not silence to hold my line.  I must be clear and put the line in the sand for myself, energetically, emotionally, and out of my own self-love and respect.

And wouldn’t you know it today of all days, on this glorious New Moon cycle our turtle showed up to lay her eggs. She shows up yearly.  The turtle is the “personification of goddess energy and the eternal Mother from which our lives evolve.” (Jamie Sams, pg 77 Medicine Cards).

“Like Turtle, you also have shields that protect you from hurt, envy, jealousy, and the unconsciousness of others…If you are bothered by the actions or words of others, it is time to go inside yourself and honor your feelings.  If you are attacked, it is time to give a warning snap.” (Pg. 77 Medicine Cards).

New Moon Ritual:  (Picture of my dog and actual turtle in our yard).turtle

Just imagine a protective tortoise shell around you when around those prickly people who bug or irritate your energy field.  Doesn’t that feel nice?  Check in with yourself, and explore your feelings. Sit with your own inner guidance on how to manage this energy.  Imagine that the turtle, the Great Goddess energy, is sitting beside you.  Become the turtle, feel the energy, feel the shield of Her shell, feel the power of her snap, feel her connection to the Earth Mother.  And then return to yourself.  Talk to the turtle, imagine in she were a loving and wise being, sent to give you a message for this New Moon, about clearing up old energy, old patterns, old ways, so you can create new ones.  What does she say or what image or object does she give you to offer her message?

To me she says…You can be calm and cool, grounded and collected.  But don’t put up with no shit.  Don’t fall into silence.  Speak your truth and snap back when you need. You are the gatekeeper of your energy field, protect it.  Honor it.  It is your health.”

What I notice about the turtle too is that she is not aggressive in her stance, she is the epitome of calm, patient, even kind.  Yet she is firm and strong and protective when she needs, when her boundary, her lines of safety or respect have been crossed, she will come out and snap at whatever is threatening her.  She is not vicious but wise and ancient.

On this new Moon, I invite you to open the windows, let the New Moon winds cleanse your home, light incense or smudge. Vacuum, dust, wash the floors, get rid of that old energy.  Take out the garbage and the donation pile to the donation centre. Cleanse and purify the old as homage to the New lurking around waiting for the space to enter.  Tie up old ways.

As always, feel free to FOLLOW THE BLOG, I’d be honored and humbled.

And so it is.

Happy energy cleansing and if need be snapping on this New Moon.

7 Ways to Close the Energy of 2015.

cleansingAt the end of every year, I feel like I get another chance to refocus my energy.  Each New Year feels like an energetic fresh new slate.  And in preparation of the new slate, I usually cleanse out the energy of my home and release the energy of the past year.  I let go of things I no longer need, have out grown and make space for new life and new energy to enter.

Here are some ways to prepare the energy in your home and close the energy of this year.

  • Clean out your closets.  Go through your clothes and remove all the ones you don’t wear.  Donate what you no longer need.  This goes for your pantry and linen closets as well.

  • Go through your email and clean it up. Delete, delete, delete… what you no longer need!  I recently did this and unsubscribed to a truck load of sites as it was simply clogging up my email accounts.  It was so freeing.  I had 3000 emails, now I have fewer than 50.  I also created folders and categorized and filed emails that I need to hang on to.

  • I know, I know it’s kind of the last thing you want to do but cleanse out the old dirt of the year.  Vacuum, wash the floors and if you can allow a fresh breeze of air to flow through your home.  It’s winter here, snow, ice, freezing, but I still open the windows to allow the winter breeze to fly through and cleanse out what is there, even for a few brief moments.

  • Clean your entrance and doorway. Wipe the door, wash the floor, re-arrange furniture, put away the pile that gets stored at the entrance.   Sweep out the floor and old energy and allow new energy and prosperity to enter.  You’ll feel the effects instantly!!

  • Go through paper work that needs to be filed or thrown out. Get organized. Burn what you no longer need and feel the old releasing in the flames.

  • Clean out your purse and wallet. Make sure receipts are not filed in the place you store your money.  That is a no-no.  Do not place bills where money is suppose to flow.
  • Remove all your garbage and recycling from your home.  If you’re like us and live in the sticks make a trip to the dump and recycling depot.  If you live in town or city just try and place it outside or garage until it can be picked up but before the New Year.  I even dropped off an old and broken printer at an e- recycling station.  I’ve been meaning to do this for a year!

Clearing out the old is so refreshing may you enjoy the new space and energy that comes with releasing and cleansing out the old.  🙂

  • As an additional note, List some of your challenges this year and the gifts they offered. Write about 2015 highlights and joys.  As you reflect on your writing, really soak it into your heart.

Now, we are ready to welcome in the energy of 2016.  It’s so exciting.  Look for a New Year Ritual & Reflection Exercise to come in the next day or so.

If you feel called, do feel free to Follow the Blog.  I’d be so honored 🙂

Blessings and bad-ass, radical joy friends 🙂

8 Simple Rituals to Invite In Prosperity & Positive Energy for 2015.

new years2

New Year’s is a time filled with many rituals and traditions in a vast number of cultures to welcome the New Year with good energy, wealth and health.  New Year’s is like a time of renewal and rebirth…a new slate.  So here are some ways to close the energy of the past and invite new prosperous, healthy and flowing energies into your home and life.

1) An old Pagan tradition is clearing out your entrance way.  Vacuum or sweep up any old negative energy, negative thoughts, or stagnant energy.  Clean the floor too with some vinegar, sage oil if you can as you mop it.  Imagine sweeping the room clean of anything that is not of love, not of light and send it outside.  Only positive, uplifting, flowing energy may come through your home.  They say to leave the broom across the door to seal out the negativity at least overnight or until the first visitor comes. Note that they say you should sweep before January 1st, before midnight as anything after that would be clearing away good luck.

2)  In Spain, people eat 12 grapes, one each at the stroke of midnight to signify good luck for the next 12 months.  It is said that that some people through the grapes in their wine to represent the last twelve months and the twelve to come.  As midnight strikes they eat them as quickly as possible one at a time from their wine glass and make a wish.

3) In the Philippines round shapes are celebrated as they are thought as symbolic to coins and abundance.  They suggest placing an abundance of round fruit on your tables to welcome prosperity.  And for those 80s girls, get out your polka dots as wearing polka dots are also said to bring good luck in their tradition.

4) Clean out your purse ladies.  Men clean out your wallets.  Throw out old receipts or paper you no longer need.  Make sure to keep the slot where you keep your bills clean and free of any receipts as it blocks the flow of money.  Invite in prosperity while clearing out the old.

5) Pay off any debts or bills you can before the New Year.  If you owe someone money pay them back.

6) Cleaning the house before New Years is a good way to clear any old, stagnant energy.  While you are cleaning, think of clearing old energy out and inviting wealth and health in.  Open doors and windows if you can even just for moments to clear out the old energy.  You may want to check out my article How to Be a Bad-Ass Goddess While You Mop Your Floors for an energy clearing mopping recipe.

7) A good ol’ sage clearing in the house.  Be sure to open a window or door to let out any of the negativity and old energy.  Make sure to get int the nooks and crannies and corners.

8) Make a mini altar on your kitchen table. Fill it with large bowl or plate of round fruits, pomegranates, apples, oranges, grapefruit, grapes etc.  Light some candles.  Get another giant bowl and get your family to write at least 3 wishes each for 2015.  Place it in the bowl and eat a grape for each wish. Grab hands and form a circle of energy and send your wishes to the sky and the earth.

Enjoy the New Year and may it be filled with prosperity, joy and good health.

Teachings from A Grouse for the New Moon & The Winter Solstice.

solisticeFor those of you who do not know my house has a pet grouse.  And we have a history!  It all started last year when this grouse appeared out of the speckled forest in our back yard.  It seemed friendly enough, never flying away in fear, generally just curious.  It always came about and explored what we were up to until one changing day when it hopped on my son’s back and scared the poop out of him. Now you’re messing with my baby Mr. Grouse and mama’s got a problem with that.

I chased that bird away into the bush on countless occasions, one time with a broom, only to have it follow us over and over again.   Last winter we were enjoying a nice day sliding down the hill in the yard and it decided to jump on my back as I slid down.  I jumped off my plastic, green slide in terror and hid under it and using like a shield until my husband stopped laughing enough to chase it away.

This winter the grouse has been M.I.A. and quite frankly I was at peace with that.  But yesterday, as I drove home from a medical appointment I slammed on my breaks and came to a dead stop. The sun glared in my eyes as my mouth dropped open in disbelief.  Twelve, grey, confident grouse strolled across the road with their chests puffed up in the air walking slowly and commanding road.  The hair on my arms stood up and I knew those grouse were sending me a message.

In her book Medicine Cards, Jamie Sams connects the grouse to the sacred spiral.   She asks us, “Analyze the way you move through your world.  How do you picture yourself in the act of “locomotion”…What word would you use to describe the way you move through both the material and spiritual worlds?…is your movement compatible with your greatest desires and goals?”  She also speaks of the grouse being an ancient symbol for birth and rebirth.  The sacred spiral is also a symbol of personal power, a feminine symbol that we used to paint on our bodies for ceremonies and vision quests, a symbol of visioning to the center of creation, down the sacred spiral and towards the center and still spot of a tornado.

This message fit well as I have been really exploring my energy lately and witnessing how much I push myself and how much I pull back.  And in my self-assessment I’ve come to realize that I’m really good at pushing myself and I rarely pull back my energy on my own accord but usually out of collapse. I typically go from a state of pushing, pushing, pushing to a grinding halt…stopped dead in my tracks with inertia and exhaustion.  The experience of pulling back is not gentle or subtle, it’s extreme and fierce. It’s forceful and out of desperation, a need for recuperation and a catching of my breath for survival.  Like everyone else I’m learning to exist somewhere between inertia and a thousand miles a minute and moving away from the extremes.  I do know this, for every action there is an equal or greater reaction.  So when we move to one extreme, there is always the opposite extreme waiting for our arrival.

My yoga class is showing me it’s in the small shifts that we can gently move to and from our edge.  Whether it’s in doing every second sun-salutation instead of every single one or maybe it’s taking a half pose instead of the full pose.  Sometimes it’s using modifications or props for support rather than pushing to the far edge of triangle pose and into injury or exhaustion.  Maybe its letting the dishes dry in the sink every so often or reading a good book instead of doing the laundry every second night.  I found it to be quite playful to try and find balance in a gentle, subtle, loving way in my every day life instead of just pushing and getting through these few days and then falling ill or finishing my weak in a state of depletion.

I’m aware too that I’ve over-done myself to the nards so much that when my body is pushed past her limit just a bit she reacts angrily and with an autoimmune flare up.  So I’ve had to learn the luscious lessons of pulling back from the edge this year and now I find myself wanting to live in the pocket of it, not pushing past it, and not quite pulling back from it either.  Just dancing in the swirling energy of the edge, and following it’s changing parameters on each day, in each moment at each season.

As I reflect on 2014 I realize now this year for me was in many ways about pausing.  It was about stillness, reflection, contemplation, absorption, rooting, grounding, filling up the tank and restoration. Not the easiest of years’ for an over-doer.  This year has been in many ways about sitting damn close to inertia and letting that be my edge.  Our edges move, it’s not always where we think it should be, or even where we want it to be but it is where it is.  It changes daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.  All we can do is simply allow it to be where it is today and do our best to honor it.  I had a couple goals for 2014 I did not accomplish but I can see now as I reflect now that I couldn’t move my energy out to accomplish that goal when I was taking the year to pull my energy in and fill up in preparation for 2015, a year of manifestation.  There is a wisdom to our edges that is supernatural and purposeful.

So as we close this season, may you and I dance the sacred spiral of the Grouse.  Allowing ourselves to at times push, at times pull back, all while being gentle and subtle, not aggressive or forceful.  May we at times simply observe our energies to be as they are without a desire to change them.  I encourage you to allow yourself to fall into a slower, more reflective pace for the winter season and dream the dream like the great dreaming bear who hibernates in the caves of Mother Earth.  Fill yourself up with visions and dreams for the new year ahead.

I genuinely feel that learning about the 28 day lunar cycles and its’ connection to our 28 day menstrual cycles will help us find our edges.   So invite you to witness how as a new moon approaches we are often in low energy, like a seed just being planted into the soil and allow yourself to be softer, gentler and slower during this time.  The moon is dark and requesting us to reflect, imagine, and dream the vision for the seed we are planting.  I always notice that the 3 days before a new moon I am often more tired and low energy as the end of a moon cycle comes to a close and a new moon cycle is preparing for release.  Witness too that generally at a full moon, we are typically more energetic, vibrating, buzzing and hatching our goals and allow our edges to expand further and wider.  We have more energy, we are at our peaks as the moon shines brightest in the sky.

May this upcoming New Moon & Winter Solstice on Sunday be a time for you to sit…reflect…dream…imagine your goals for the upcoming 2015 year.  See them in your mind’s eye, see yourself doing and being in the next year to come.  Dream the dream and dance the sacred spiral of the Grouse.

Aho! And so it is.grouse
