How to Be a Bad-Ass Goddess While you Mop Your Floors

For a long ticleansing goddessme I struggled with an internal segregation.  It felts as though my spiritual practice were separate from my everyday life.  I’d go into Spirit as an escape from my life, although it was an addiction, a place of refuge.   Spirituality sure can be a safe container to retreat and restore but it set my thought process to believe my everyday life was boring, mundane, even a place of suffering.  Somehow it was less Sacred.

And finally a light bulb went off.  I could unite both Spirit and everyday life.  Duh!!!  Spirit is in everyday life, every tree, every branch, every rock.  Why couldn’t it be in my everyday tasks? I had set the intention to unite both my inner and outer worlds, this was another piece of the puzzle.   It was about celebrating the Sacred in my everyday life and in my every day responsibilities.  It’s about staying connected to the Divine in the here and now, whatever the moment is.  It’s about making things fun and enjoyable by adding a little magic to the routine.  All we need is a little fun and creativity.

So get out your mop buckets and follow along.  Fill it as you would with water.  Add any special cleaner you like or half a cup to a full cup of vinegar.  Add just a bit of lovely and refreshing herbs for cleansing such as rosemary, sage, cedar and or sweetgrass.   Cut a lemon or lime in half, squeeze and release in the bucket.   Feel free to add drops of tea tree oil or sage oil as well.  Drop in a cinnamon stick or two for the fun of it. Stir the bucket with your mop as though you were a witch stirring her cauldron, mixing all the cleansing properties together into a Sacred Cleaner.  Rub your hands together for a minute or two and build heat.  Now place your hand over your mop and pail and say a cleansing prayer.

“Great Spirit, Creator, Mother Earth and Father Sky, all my ancestors, spirit animals and all beings who love me, I ask you to hear me now.  I ask you please to help me cleanse my home of any stuck energy, negativity or any other energy that is not of love and not of light.  I ask you to fill my home with love, luck, prosperity and health as I clean the grounds our family walks.   This I ask in the name of love.  Aho!”

As you begin to clean your floors, feel the importance of your sacred ritual of cleansing your home, not only of germs but of energy.   You are a Divine presence in your home and in your family.   Your work is so important, so celebmopping goddessrate and acknowledge it.   Feel your importance in your family and in your home.  Feel your divinity as you mop and cleanse the floors, transforming fear based energy into light and love.  You are a healer, a transformer of stuck energy into flowing, glowing light.  Put on some upbeat music and rock it out as your cleanse.   You are bad-ass, so indulge in the wonderful, edgy energy of it! Imagine the music notes invoking energy, radiance and joy in the air and through the walls with every dance and cleaning move.  I encourage you to bring it all the way home and wear your goddess type jewelry or scarves as you make cleaning into a sacred ritual and cleansing ceremony.  Enjoy the process and have fun with it.  Imagine your home being filled with love and radiant golden beams of light . Let yourself see flowers, roses, pinks, reds, purples and greens growing on your walls and through the air, spreading love and positivity in the air as you sway your mop back and forth over floor.

(If you only have floor in a small area of your home, take this practice to your base boards and cleanse all the areas in your home. )

Feel and enjoy the Sacred Art of mopping your floors as your awesome, colorful, bad-ass Goddess Self.  Allow the process to invoke joy and sweet laughter into your home as you cleanse with joyful, fun, bad-ass Goddess energy.

You go girl!  And so it is.  Enjoy!

Take a walk about…anywhere.

“As you walk, begin to imagine your original tribal, primal and instinctual nature.  Remember the times when as humans we roamed the Earth.  You are dressed in a green grass skirt, wearing two shells covering your bosom.  Your wrists and ankles are wrapped with green vines, shells and bells.  Your hair is long and flowing and sways with your hips as you walk.  Your body is covered with symbols of sacred spirals and circles colored with white and red paint.  Your face is marked with red paint symbolizing your connection to the Women’s Tribe.  Notice any other unique markings or jewelry you are wearing as you continue to walk.  Feel it on your body.

As you walk, your footsteps become like drum beats against the Earth.  With each beat you can also hear the rhythm of the bells jingling on your ankles and wrists.  With each jingle you transform more and more into the your ancient, timeless, tribal form.  Feel the aliveness that comes with the remembering of your raw, pure and unique nature.  Walk as your full Tribal, Primal Self…wild…. fierce….. free…. alive!   Soak it in, become that fierceness, that wild, that free and just walk as your Soul.  Feel your strength and power bursting from within you and let it flow out.  Your vision becomes clear and focused.   Feel the sensations of aligning your mind, body and soul into one as you become your Sacred Feminine Soul out in the world.  Keep walking and enjoy the sensation….

Feel the union of your ancient, tribal soul with your present day reality as ancient and modern unite into one.  As you walk in your modern day world as your ancient, tribal, instinctual Self, what do you notice?  What does it feel like?  Take it in, feel your energy rising like a fire blazing and enjoy the remembering of your important purpose in this lifetime.”

As I walked as my Tribal Self, I felt like I were experiencing my very purpose on the planet, learning to walk being my Divine, Feminine, Tribal Soul in this modern, advanced world.  It was poetic, beautiful, perplexing and yet simple.   It was as though as were glimpsing my life from the point of view of Spirit.  It was actually quite amusing, funny really.  I try so darn hard and cause life to be a bit too complicated rather than just let be and walk as my soul.  I laughed as I walked as my tribal soul past the farmers harvesting their fields.   Rather than feel like I didn’t belong, I felt Sacred and unique.

Enjoy !!

A “Magic Dust” New Moon Ritual for the Whole Family

magic dustTo Begin….

  • Take a walk outside in nature and get the kids to choose a large stick for the New Moon Ritual.
  • Return to your chosen spot for your New Moon celebration. In Manitoba we are breaking records for the warmth so we are doing this one outside.   If you choose, lay a small moon altar including candles, sage or incents, Epson salts, crystals, stones…whatever feels right for you, you use it !! I’ve been using a cool plate I picked up at the Sally Ann and placing my offerings to the moon in it.  My son loves doing this with me, picking out special moon things to put on the altar.  It’s usually stones or his toys and its awesome because it’s from his Divine, Innocent, Pure Soul.
  • Get some fun ritual music, this month I’m suggesting Janjara by James Asher (one of my favorites). Play it loud and play it proud!  Get out your drums, rattles, and bells and let yourself and the kids go to town dancing under the New Moon Sky.    May your dance be your prayer.
  • Have a bowl of Epson Salts and lets the kids grab handfuls. Throw the “Magic Dust” into the air saying our wishes for the New Moon.   This can be done with the dancing too.
  • Gather the stick and colored ribbons to create a family prayer stick. Get everyone to choose a color or ribbon and wrap it around the stick marking our wishes for this New Moon cycle.  Place the stick in the ground together in a special spot in your yard and say a simple prayer of gratitude.

Thank you Great God and Goddess for this joyous night, the seasons of change, the blessings of our family and for all the Magic we experience.  We are grateful and blessed Aho!

  • Enjoy some hot chocolate, juice and cookies enjoying the sweet autumn night.

Materials needed:Ribbon, Sticks, Epson Salts, Bowl, Candles, moon image 4

Open up many windows in your home and invite in the beautiful summer/autumn air. Allow the breeze to sing a lovely transition song through your home as she cleanses the energy to prepare for the transition of summer to fall. Feel the simultaneous warm and cool breeze as she caresses your cheek. Close your eyes and hear the wind sing to you. What does she say?
If you have, dab a bit of tea tree oil or sage oil onto your screens as a means to cleanse the air or light incense and allow the breeze to move the cleansing smoke throughout your home. Enjoy the last week of summer as we begin our transition into Autumn next week. Please feel free to share. Enjoy! xo

September Full Moon Ritual for the Whole Family

september full moon

  • This full moon is September, a Pisces full-moon, the Harvest Moon.  I love the crisp autumn air and the beautiful colors of the golden, orange, red and still green leaves illuminating the trees as we are not quite at the crux of change but somewhere between the old season and the new.  It’s beautiful.  So this ritual will be outside at my outside fire pit.  I have done this with a metal garbage can and burning salts as well, so if you don’t have a fire pit there is still a way!  So #1, find your spot for the ceremony.  Get the fam excited.

  • Get your kiddies to help put for stones as markers for north, south, east and west to form a sacred circle as part of the ceremony. I start in the south and make my way clockwise.

  • Make a little altar to honor the particular moon. This month we are celebrating the Harvest Moon.  It need not be elaborate but get the kiddies to get squash from the pantry, maybe some corn and/or some dollar store wheat husks and set it up on a table or on a blanket outside by the ceremony location.  Our goal is simply to represent the fall harvest so whatever floats your boat.  Light candles and burn incents too if that speaks to you.  I have some cedar/sage incents that I love.  Gather stones and crystals you like as well and place them on the blanket or table if you wish. Kids like to gather stones so get them to pick stones for moon ceremonies, help them find special rocks for the moon, Great Spirit, the universe and ourselves.

  • Gather round the fire and start the ceremony by saying “ We are gathered here today as a family to celebrate this Full Moon.  We celebrate and honor you, your tides and the magic you bring to our lives.. Thank-you Creator, Mother Earth, Father Sky and all beings who love us, for all the wonderful fall harvest, our foods, our blessings and all of the abundance and gifts we already have in our lives.  We say a special prayer for all those who contribute to the bountiful harvest we enjoy.  Aho!

  • Play a song, this month I’m suggesting He’s a Pirate by Chriss Joss Ships Ahoy and dance it out at this full moon. Dance out all that needs to be released, let go of and surrendered.  Whatever stands in the way of your intentions set at the new moon, dance it out.  Shake your hands, your body, your feet, every inch of you and just release.  Let your Sacred Body take over and allow your Primal Tribal Self to pray and release through dance. Invite your kids and family members to do the same.  Tell them to dance out whatever is making them stressed, sad, mad or worried.  Shake it off, stomp it out, howl, scream and release.  Feel free to dance with your drums or rattles and move it out of ya.  This is our Tribal Primal way of prayer.  No more fear, no more doubt, all is good.  He’s a Pirate by Chriss Joss YouTube LInk.

  • After the song and dance is over, go around the circle and say one thing we have released tonight and two things we are each grateful for.

  • To close the ceremony get some bells, rattles or shakers and all at once howl to the moon and make some noise with the noise maker of your choice. Thank-you Harvest Full Moon!!!

  • Sit around the fire and share in each others’ loving company. Enjoy some luscious foods of celebration, a nice harvest bread, cookies or muffins and some hot cider or cocoa.

What you will need:  a blanket or small table, squash, corn and/or wheat, candles, incents, a fire pit or bowl,  music player, candles, bells or rattles, and family.  Have some hot cocoa and harvest bread, muffins or cookies on hand.

How to Ride the Wave of Full Moon Intensity

How do you ride the wave of Full Moon intensity you ask?

I’ve compiled two wonderous songs to help our wild, primal, colorful, rainbow souls release the intense emotional energy of this Pisces Full Moon/Supermoon.  For me it’s about clearing out the old relationship patterns once and for all.  I thought I was done and I let my guard down only to learn why I placed it there to begin with.  No more codependency, no more softening, just fierce, clear intent with my needs and vision.  No more Martyr/Victim syndrome here.  I’m fierce, fiery and ready to duel if need be.  I’ve got my warrior stance, my warrior shield and sword and I’m ready to stand my ground.

Pisces Full Moon Dance It Out Playlist (Click on Slideshow button up top, then hit play from beginning button on left hand corner )

Dance It Out Song List

1) Gabrielle Roth (Tsunami-Chaos)  – This song is for feeling the chaotic energy, the swirls of intensity and then releasing, shaking and allowing the swaying to occur in the body.  It’s a choatic rhythmic movement of energy then release.

2)Medwyn Goodall (Firewalker)- This song is for refocusing, regrounding, calling in our energy a bit to harness and focus it.  The movements are a bit more rigid and linear, less sway more tone.

Our tribal ancestors danced in prayer, ritual and celebration.  Let us reconnect to this ancient way of being, of reconnecting our mind, body and soul and dance out our emotions, our prayers and our intense energy on this Full Moon.  Aho!!!

What Ya Do…

All ya do is close your eyes and let your body move the way it wants to.  Allow the music to move your body like strings on a puppet, just follow your body’s lead.  Be crazy, uninhibited, wild, free and release, just allow, it’s not performance it’s primal prayer, primal movement from the Soul.  Just release and dance, allow what wants to come to come.  I takes some practice just to allow oneself to be this free but it’s so fun and amazingly rewarding for mind, body and soul!!!  It’s inspired by my JourneyDance training.

 Happy Full Moon sistas!

Creating an Altar for Prayer, Ritual and Intentions

mediation image

In my home I have several altars.  I used to struggle with the word altar because it felt religious to me but now it’s cool.  It’s simply a place of prayer, of vision and of intention.  As we approach the full moon and the fall equinox, it is something I thought I’d share thinking you may also like to create an altar for your sweet soul.

Here’s the deal, there are no rules!! I have been taught a specific way to set up an altar but I feel I move everything around over and over based on what feels right and what it symbolizes for me and my intentions.  I believe as long as your intentions are pure and loving, it’s all good.  At the end of the day It’s a place to sit at and mediate, pray, reflect, journal, contemplate, envision and plug into Spirit so it need no specific “how to”.  It just ought to be a place with objects and things that inspire you to connect to Nature, the Universe, Yourself, a Higher Power, or the Stillness – whatever term or aspect resonates with you.  It’s a place to plug into Hope, Magic and Inspiration.

Currently I have my altar (shown above) in my sunroom that has a gazillion windows so I love how the moon shines on the table in the evenings.  It holds symbols, statues, rocks, crystals, a plant that holds my placenta from my son’s birth, a writing bowl, and an offering plate that I found at Salvation Army because it made me smile.  I use it to lay tobacco or corn meal as an offering to my Spirit Guides, the Moon, the Universe and the Great Spirit.  I especially love this space during the full moon as the moon beams shine through my crystals and onto my rocks cleansing them and illuminating their energies and sweet gifts of reflection.  I light candles and set my monthly moon intentions with the new moon and usually try and create something by or for the Full Moon.  I will post some Full Moon ritual ideas in the next few days for the upcoming full moon.  As you can see in image, I’m already in creation mode by beginning a collage and collecting images.

So here’s what you can do to create an Altar in your home.

1) Find a location that can me for you or for the whole family to connect.

2) Find a small table of some sort and place it in the spot. Perhaps you’ll have to visit a second hand store and have even more fun refurbishing or painting your new altar table.  It is meant to spread joy and creativity so stretch out the fun!!!  (This step can even be for your full moon ritual this month)

3) Find stones, crystals, plants, pictures, statues, candles, inscents, prayer books, poems, or anything of the sort to decorate your table to reflect something profound and Sacred for you.  It’s a place for your soul, allow the objects to reflect that beauty!!  I also like to include an offering plate to the spirits and universe or moon to honor the sacred energies around.

4) Sit, reflect, connect, inspire, pray, envision, release, celebrate and remember your Sacredness and your importance in the world.

With warmth and blessings,

Just Say YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read recently about an art teacher who was inspired by the works of Joseph Campbell and the idea to “Follow Your Bliss”. He quit his full time corporate job and is now a full time artist who paints and teaches painting classes.  Those around him say he radiates and oozes joy.  He says, he just follows his own bliss.  He says if you are asking the question, the answer is always, “Yes!”.

I’ve been contemplating an invite to attend a Women’s Healing Retreat with some wonderful Elders in Ontario.  Right away my soul said, “Yes!!!” but my human mind is trying throw me the reasons why I should not.  My mommy self feels guilt for tending to me first (crazy I know but it’s true) and then I look at my finances and feel guilty again.  Every reason why I should not swirls in my brain.  At the same time my soul is rattling my insides making sure I know my deepest Self wants to go!!

What if I just said…YES! What if I followed my Bliss…..I will keep you posted and let you know 🙂  I am going to go and allow the physical world stuff (responsibilities) to work out.  It always does when you follow your soul.  That I know for sure.

Have you ever just followed your Bliss?  Was it easy peasy or a challenge?  What was the result?  Please share!!

Find the Hidden Meaning of Life Struggles.

 images (1)

This morning I was reading an Oprah magazine my mom gave me awhile back.  To be honest I was looking for some images for a collage.  I came across an article by Martha Beck about making the best of bad fortune or bad luck such as a car accident, an illness or whatever the circumstance may be.   It proposed that perhaps there were deeper meaning to a less than fortunate circumstance.  That maybe, just maybe, these circumstances have an opportunity to wake us up or give us messages that we need to get back on the soul track.

As a Shamaness, I honor that thought.   I’ve been taught from my Sacred Teachers that as above, so below.  As within, so without.  The outer world is a mere reflection of what is within.  On a spiritual plane, our soul is calling for a healing and the universe has a way of manifesting a most unique, treacherous, challenging or ridiculous circumstance for that healing to occur.

For those of you who don’t know me or haven’t seen me in awhile, you may not know that I have been unwell for the past year.  I need daily blood transfusions of a blood protein connected to my immune system that is malfunctioning.  Without it I have a response that is similar to anaphylaxis, where my tongue and face start to swell and I often pass out.  Crazy stuff to start happening out of the blue….or is it??

My life had gone through a major upheaval and shift in the years previous to my illness. I remember going to a tarot card reader almost five years ago who flipped over a card called the Tower Card.  It donned a collapsing tower on fire with crumbling, shattered pieces of the building falling to the ground.  “A symbol of what was to come.” he said, my world as I knew it was going to crumble and fall apart completely. Destruction was a repeated word.  And it did.

In the spirit of keeping it short…I had a baby, lost my job, found out my husband was cheating, got separated, moved to an apartment with my one year old son, all within a nine month time span. I wasn’t sure I was going to make it some days.  I’d lay whaling on the floor screaming out in anger and despair but when the tears ended I strangely felt a sense of calm.  I felt as though the layers of fear had been stripped away, there was nothing left, just the moment.  There were no more blocks to myself, to my heart, just rawness and realness.

And what I learned was that you can count on Spirit and the Universe to help out a soul willing to heal.  The universe always had my back.  From the moment I found an apartment, or when I got a new job, bought a cute little house all by myself, it always brought forth what I needed and where I needed to go next.   Was it easy, hell no.  But every time I needed something or got scared, the universe brought forth what I needed or knew how to calm my nerves.  E.V.E.R.Y.  S.I.N.G.L.E.  T.I.M.E!  Whether it was my dad who randomly filled up my car when money was on the tight side or an invite for dinner when I was too tired to cook or a win at TV bingo right before Christmas, the universe supported my move to independence and deep healing.

Did I mention, this all occurred during my last year of my four years of Shamanic Training?  Of course, right?!   As within, so without!  I had changed and the outside didn’t match my insides anymore.  So, it dissolved.  The Tarot Card reader also shared that everything I had built on the foundation of my ego was being destroyed so a new foundation and a new structure could be built from a place of heart and soul.  Something more authentic could be born.  And wouldn’t you know it, I got an even better job, my own house and I meant someone new, someone amazing, someone who showed me heart centered, toe curling, kind of love.  We got married, sold both of our homes and bought another where we’d finally join our lives.  Two days after we moved in together as new husband and wife – WHAM!  I passed out at work and my illness took over.

WTF right?  Hadn’t I been through enough?  Couldn’t I just enjoy my life now? Didn’t I deserve that?  The healing transformation I was going through, was not quite complete.   I knew the universe was not done with me yet.  This past year I have known there is a deep healing going, my life had to get turned upside down so I could redo, restructure and regenerate a new life.  I needed time and space to clear out the old life, old energy, old pain completely.  That was the gift of my illness.  It could not have happened any other way, I would not have gave it the proper time and space.  So I am grateful for what is and trust that Spirit and the Universe are always behind me, guiding me into my soul’s growth, evolution and purpose.

I did a writing exercise, writing as my blood and here is a blurb of what it said…(Just roll with me here.)

I stopped Crystal in her tracks and let her body catch up to her soul. Her old blood was the old her, it wouldn’t function with her new vibration anymore.  I needed regeneration…There is vitality, trust and life in her veins, not pain and darkness anymore… Now her body is beginning to heal, to regenerate and prepare for her rebirth into the world.  She is ready for this soul’s life and purpose with this blood, these organs, this body.  Aho!  And so it is.”

To this day they don’t know what is wrong with me or why my blood is malfunctioning but I know this…I will heal and soon! Things are already looking up, my energy is slowly increasing, I’m finally writing and putting it out into the world and after a long time, I’m finally inspired.  The juices are flowing and the universe is stirring something up for my new blood, my new body and my new way of being in the world.  I know this, the universe has got my back.

Think of a time in your life that was difficult.  Was it a break-up?  A stressful job?  A loss? Personify the challenge.  Make it a person or character and pretend this person were sitting in a chair next to you.  Ask him or her some questions. Just let the pen flow and see what the universe has to say to you 😉

Here are a couple questions to ask in your journal if you’re real stuck…

Who are you?

Why did you come into my life?

What do you have to say?

Is there anything you need from me?

What is your healing gift?

Happy writing!!! xo

How to make your Soul Dance.

creativity 2

What Inspires You?

For me….

The moment the Sun is setting and it looks like a giant orange ball on the edge of the sky.

My son’s smile and the innocence in his eyes.

A new recipe.

A new book.

My dogs affection and excitement when seeing me for the first time in three hours.

Stillness of a tree.

The bushels of canola in the farm field beside me springing a beautiful sea of the color yellow.

The wind cooling my hot face.

My first cup of coffee in the morning.

The moon shining in the sky.

When we are inspired, our soul perks up, like the beginning stages of a fire when we are trying to get it spark and burn.  From an energetic perspective, a vivid rainbow of colors dance through us and around us as our soul energy is released and able to dance freely and playfully.  We feel energetic and excited from the inside.   A good word:  Giddy!  We must regularly move this energy out into the world, we must keep the fire burning, so to speak.  Whether it be in making a recipe, a journal entry, a dance,  singing a song, taking a picture or a fun collage, we must be creative for our Soul Health.  When we tap into our creative juices, our soul feels fed and that inner emptiness and restlessness vanishes.  Now that’s good Soul Food.!!!

Above is a picture of a bunch of prayer sticks that many people made at Ghost Ranch while in Lynn Andrews Sacred Art and Healing training.  We make a prayer and put it on a stick through color, beading, feathers, paint, words, string or whatever inspires us.  It is an intention to the universe and we plant it into the soul.   I have prayer sticks in my back yard for various reasons.  I invite you to make a Prayer Stick for whatever tickles your fancy.  Perhaps its’ for a loved one who is in need of love, perhaps it’s for a goal you’d like manifested, or perhaps it’s for better health.  Use your inspiration, no rules, a create a way.  All you need is love, an prayer or intention and some soil.

How are you inspired and how to you express it?  Leave a comment.

 Happy soul feeding Women’s Tribe!!!
